2027 Mission Statement<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

The mission and foundation for the 2027 World Speed Challenge (WSC) philosophy has been inspired by decades of automotive and motorsport innovations and by the success of other forms of racing and how they act as a platform to accelerate electric & hybrid technologies is to showcase technology innovation and advancement in eTC and e GT motorsport racing venues in the world by providing a fair and stable environment for competitors. Series co-founders Stefan Pagnani & Jeff Elghanayan from Marco Polo Motorsports aim to apply that same philosophy to racing with 2027 World Speed Challenge (WSC) electric & hybrid road racing series. Along with being a proving ground for electric & hybrid technologies, 2027 World Speed Challenge & World Endurance Challenge is also committed to making a positive impact beyond racing and to manage the commercial development of the sport in the manner that continuously improve the electric & hybrid motorsport economic environment for all stakeholders.<\/span><\/p>

Information on World Speed Challenge <\/strong><\/span><\/p>

The 2027 World Speed Challenge is comprised of 5 racing categories based on how many electric and size of kw engines are utilized, weight of vehicle and the configuration of the racing vehicle e-factory or e and\/or hybrid homologations. These categories allow a broad spectrum of racers, manufacturers, and promoters. Each category determines its own class rules, how series or world champion will be determined, and EVWRA elects its own rules committee members and advisory boards.<\/span><\/p>

The FIA has announced\u00a0the creation of all-new\u00a0technical regulations for electric-powered GT cars, featuring several technical innovations, including fast charging.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

This pioneering concept embodies a unique combination of innovations unseen in motor sport to date and is intended to serve manufacturers as a platform to develop technology relevant to their high-performance road cars.<\/span><\/p>

The cars built to this set of technical regulations will compete at full-length permanent circuits and will set new standards for electric vehicles in motor sport in terms of performance and range.<\/span><\/p>

This innovative breed of cars will operate in a similar performance window to the current generation of GT cars but will exceed their combustion engine-powered counterparts in areas such as acceleration and qualifying pace.<\/span><\/p>

CUTTING EDGE TECHNOLOGY AND COST CONTROL<\/strong><\/span>
The new class is based on direct manufacturer involvement, with the technical regulations prepared to achieve the right balance between permitting the OEMs to express themselves in terms of creativity and developing cutting-edge technology, while at the same time preventing cost escalation.<\/span><\/p>

The category will be opened open to both specialists in electric vehicle construction without previous combustion engine motor sport experience as well as manufacturers already committed to the GT class, who will be able to utilize the architecture and certain design elements of their existing cars and convert them to electric power.<\/span><\/p>

PARTNERSHIP WITH INDUSTRY-LEADING BATTERY FIRMS TO ENABLE FAST CHARGING<\/strong><\/span>
The new class will be the first in electric-powered motor sport not to rely on standardized batteries. It will accommodate cars of vastly different architectures with different spaces available to install key components.<\/span><\/p>

Through partnership with industry-leading firms, the eTC and eGT category will allow the manufacturers to build their own bespoke battery layouts based on their supplied cells.<\/span><\/p>

The charging network will also be developed to meet the fast charging requirements and depending on the venue, will include elements of permanent and temporary infrastructure.<\/span><\/p>

ROAD RELEVANCE<\/strong><\/span>
In addition to fast charging, the category will feature several other innovations relevant from a technology transfer standpoint.<\/span><\/p>

All of the manufacturers will have the freedom of choosing their own powertrain set-ups, comprised of either two or four electric motors, with both two- and four-wheel-drive configurations allowed.<\/span><\/p>

The cars will also feature dynamic vehicle control that will automatically adjust the torque of each wheel independently based on speed, acceleration, traction and steering angle, thus ensuring that the cars will have supreme handling characteristics.<\/span><\/p>

SUSTAINABLE LONG-TERM VISION<\/strong><\/span>
The introduction of this new concept is in line with the FIA\u2019s long-term vision for the implementation of sustainable energy sources across its portfolio of motor sport disciplines, thus setting an example in the approach to the reduction of CO\u2082 emission, while at the same time reflecting the latest trends in the automotive industry and responding to the demands of the market.<\/span><\/p>

The promoter of a new world-level competition built around the concept of electric-powered GT cars will be announced in due course.<\/span><\/p>

Jean Todt<\/strong>,\u00a0FIA President<\/strong>, said: \u201cThe FIA\u2019s vision is to make motor sport a laboratory for sustainable mobility. The announcement of this new electric-powered GT car category is a key milestone serving this goal as it will pave the way for new battery and fast-charging technologies. A perfect illustration of our race-to-road approach.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

Leena Gade<\/strong>,\u00a0FIA GT Commission President<\/strong>, said: \u201cThe market for high-performance electric road supercars is on a constant rise, hence a platform to allow manufacturers to develop and showcase their technology was much needed. Creating these technical regulations has been a key project for the FIA GT Commission over the last eighteen months. We\u2019ve held regular discussions with GT manufacturers through our Technical Working Groups and there\u2019s keen interest in this new category. It also widens the FIA\u2019s GT portfolio, coexisting alongside with GT3 which will remain the focus of the customer racing market worldwide for the time being.\u201d<\/span><\/p>
